At Girls on the go, community is everything.

We want to give back to our local communities however we can.

So far, we are proud to have supported 6 women and children-based charites in our hometown of Liverpool and other parts of the UK. We do so by raising awareness and money through our events, workshops, and running club.

We are passionate about helping local charities and organisations and are keen to continue doing so. If you have a suggestion, work for or know someone who works for a charity that provides help to women and children and could use our help please contact us via Instagram.

Charities we have supported:

Winter 2023

The Liverpool Santa Dash

– Couch to Christmas

The Liverpool Santa Dash is an annual 5K race held in Liverpool and is the UK’s biggest and longest established Santa Dash.

In 2023, as part of our Couch to Christmas initiative, we supported 25 members of our community to train for and complete The Liverpool Santa Dash raising over £5000 for Refugee Women Connect.

Winter 2023

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital

– Christmas Stockings

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is a children’s hospital located in Liverpool that offers remarkable care and support for children and their families on a daily basis.

In December 2023, we encouraged our community to bring children’s presents to our festive events to donate to the children at Alder Hey in a giant Christmas stocking.

Our community came together and donated over 120 presents for the children. We were so proud of those who donated and grateful that our community are keen to help us support local charities and organisations like Alder Hey.

Spring 2024

RASA Merseyside

– The Liverpool ParkRun

Parkrun is an international charity that organises free, weekly 5k community events where attendees can walk, run, or jog to complete the route.

With several parkrun events held in and around Liverpool every week, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring our community together and support a local organisation.

RASA Merseyside is a professional counselling and support service for anyone who has been affected by sexual violence, it does incredible work in our community.

In March 2024, 55 women from our community volunteered to take part in a 5k parkrun in Liverpool on Saturday 2nd March and pledged to raise at least £30 for RASA Merseyside. Our community surpassed (and absolutely smashed) our target of £500, raising more than £6,300 for RASA Merseyside! We are so proud of our community and thankful to those who donated and / or supported them.

Easter 2024

Children Centres

– Girls on the go X Liverpool City Council

Children’s centres in Liverpool are incredibly valuable, they offer a range of free services for children from birth to five and their families.

Whilst services vary at each centre depending on the needs of the community, all centres provide child and family health, family support services and a range of parent and toddlers activities.

In April 2024, we partnered with Liverpool City Council to donate Easter eggs to Children’s centres across Liverpool for vulnerable children as part of the ‘Easter egg appeal’.

Together, the women and girls in our community donated over 2500 Easter eggs which were distributed to children in need across the city. Once again, we were so thankful to our community for their generosity and proud to have made a difference in our local community at Easter 2024.

Summer 2024

Liverpool Domestic Abuse Services

– GOTG raises over £24,000 for Liverpool Domestic Abuse Services

On the 1st of September, the Girls on the go charity team ran a women’s 10k in Sefton Park and raised over £24,000 for Liverpool Domestic Abuse Service (LDAS)

1 in 4 women and girls experience domestic abuse or violence at some point in their lives and a domestic abuse related call is made to the police every 30 seconds in the UK. These statistics are absolutely heartbreaking and we are wholeheartedly committed to showing our support and doing our best to help victims and survivors of domestic violence. We cannot thank our community enough for helping us with this.

The money raised will help LDAS to support an extra 300 women in the merseyside area with access to life saving support, providing them with counselling support and abuse group support.

We had 173 girls in our community raise money for the cause, with 150 girls taking part in the 10k run. Our goal was to raise £10,000 and to have raised more than DOUBLE this amount is absolutely amazing and we cannot thank our community enough.
